NJIT is proud to celebrate Women’s History Month, a time to honor the remarkable contributions of women to our university and beyond. As a leading public polytechnic university, we have a unique responsibility to empower and support women in fields where they are traditionally underrepresented, such as science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), as well as architecture, design, management, and other disciplines offered at NJIT.
Gender diversity in STEM is crucial, and women bring valuable perspectives that enrich team dynamics. Their unique experiences allow them to identify complex problems and innovative solutions, contributing to more comprehensive and effective outcomes. By fostering an environment where diverse voices are heard, we not only enhance our academic community but also pave the way for groundbreaking advancements in various fields.
NJIT takes pride in the accomplishments of the women of our university, who serve as mentors, leaders, and change agents within our university and beyond. Women from diverse backgrounds hold pivotal executive leadership roles at NJIT—as Board members, representatives on the President’s Cabinet and President’s Council, faculty, staff, alumni, and students. Their impact extends far beyond our campus, making a difference locally, regionally, nationally and globally.
While we celebrate the progress we have made, we also recognize the need to further empower women in leadership roles. Join me in honoring the women who have shaped NJIT's legacy and in championing the next generation of women leaders. We invite you to participate in the many events we are sponsoring and hosting at NJIT throughout Women’s History Month.
Sincerely,
Teik C. Lim
