WATCH: Press Conference for New Men's Basketball Head Coach Grant Billmeier

The NJIT Department of Athletics held a press conference to announce and welcome Grant Billmeier as the new head coach of the men's basketball program.

Billmeier, a New Jersey native who brings a wealth of experience to NJIT, was announced as the 12th men's basketball coach in program history last week. This past season, the Seton Hall graduate helped lead Maryland to the NCAA Tournament where the Terrapins advanced to the second round and also coached at his alma for 11 seasons over two stints. 

Billmeier reflected on the NCAA Tournament splashes of other New Jersey programs Saint Peter’s, Princeton and Fairleigh Dickinson, and outlined his vision of success here at NJIT.

“What those programs have done, why can’t we do it here?” Billmeier said during the press conference. “Look at these facilities. This athletic department is committed to building a winning program.

"I want to recruit, I want develop, I want to retain, I want to graduate — that's how I see this program being built."
