Special Message from President Teik C. Lim
Dear Highlanders,
In recent days, I have seen tensions rise on many college campuses, which causes me great concern. As a university and as a community, we must remain committed to civil discourse and respectful disagreement with one another, regardless of our beliefs or opinions. Violence in any form is unacceptable and should not be tolerated. As a university, we believe in the power of our students, alumni, faculty and staff to positively transform our world, so I implore all Highlanders to listen earnestly and treat one another compassionately during this difficult time.
The terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas on Israel, which I condemned earlier by denouncing violence and terror, were senseless acts of brutality that robbed the world of precious lives and dehumanized countless innocent people. Hamas committed atrocities. That is not up for debate, and these actions have caused great pain to many in our university community.
If you are struggling at this time, please avail yourself of the support and resources offered by the university. For students, these include our Center for Counseling and Psychological Services and the Office of the Dean of Students. For faculty and staff, the Employee Assistance Program is available to provide you support.
During this incredibly difficult time, my thoughts remain with the victims of this tragedy and the members of our NJIT community who are suffering.
Sincerely,
Teik C. Lim
NJIT President
