Professor Xianqin Wang Awarded Catalysis Research Award
New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Professor Xianqin Wang has been honored by the Catalysis Society of Metropolitan New York with the 2023 Excellence in Catalysis Award. This recognition underscores Professor Wang's outstanding contributions to the field of catalysis and her dedication to advancing scientific knowledge.
The Excellence in Catalysis Award celebrates individuals whose work has significantly impacted the field of catalysis and has demonstrated excellence in research, innovation and academic leadership. Catalysis is ubiquitous in chemical industries of all kinds, and it’s estimated that 90% of all commercially produced chemical products involve catalysts at some stage in the process of their manufacture.
Professor Wang, a member of NJIT's Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering since 2007, has been a trailblazer in catalysis research. Her research efforts focus on two major categories: developing novel catalytic materials for sustainable energy production and environmental protection, and investigating the structure and reactivity of catalytic systems under operation conditions including high pressure and temperature.
In accepting the award, Wang presented her talk, “A New Member to Catalyst Family: Polynitrogen" at the ceremony. Her talk delved into the synthesis, properties and potential applications of polynitrogen (PN) compounds in catalysis.
