NJIT is New Jersey's No. 1 Public University for Return on Investment
New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has earned the top spot for student return on investment among all public universities in the state, according to Degree Choices.
Degree Choices evaluated more than 2,200 four-year colleges and universities using a methodology based around two main parameters: how educational costs measure up to the additional earnings a student can expect to make because of their degree, and how this earning potential compares to that student’s peers.
Using data provided by the Department of Education’s College Scorecard and American Community Survey of the Census Bureau, Degree Choices identified NJIT as one of only two New Jersey universities to crack the top 100, along with Princeton.
NJIT is widely recognized for its strong return on investment for students: Money ranked NJIT No. 14 nationally, which focused on quality of education, affordability and alumni outcomes; Payscale ranked NJIT in the top 2% of colleges and universities nationally for the mid-career earnings of graduates; The Princeton Review ranks NJIT No. 33 nationally as a Best Value College and No. 11 for career placement; and NJIT is rated among the top 50 public colleges and universities nationwide by U.S. News & World Report.
“Being continually recognized for NJIT’s high value is an incredible achievement,” said NJIT President Teik C. Lim. “These accolades speak directly to our mission and the social mobility that NJIT provides to its students. Their success is our most important outcome.”
One of the reasons for NJIT's strong ROI is the university's focus on practical, hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for successful careers. Many of the university's programs are designed with input from industry leaders, ensuring that students are learning the skills and knowledge that are in high demand in today's job market. In addition, new degrees — like the new graduate programs in artificial intelligence — are being added to support increasing demand in high-growth industries.
NJIT’s location in Newark means that students across many disciplines — engineering, computing, finance, architecture and design, health care and more — are in an ideal spot to access opportunities for internships and jobs, ensuring return on their educational investment.
