New Jersey Institute of Technology and the New York Red Bulls held the first of a series of events in the Goal for Perfect Attendance Program. The incentive-based program is a collaborative effort between the Red Bulls, Newark Public Schools and NJIT that strives to improve student attendance across all district high schools in Newark. For each event, four students from each of Newark's 17 public high schools are invited to participate.
The first event on Wednesday, November 17, provided students with NJIT-run workshops on applying and paying for college, getting started on a career and resume building. It also gave students the chance to tour the Red Bull Arena to see the field and facilities, and to participate in workshops run by staff from New York Red Bulls ranging from social media marketing to the technical operation of the Red Bull's control room.
“The Red Bulls and NJIT have been staunch supporters of the Newark Public Schools for many years,” said Newark Board of Education Superintendent Roger Leon. “We are excited about the collaborative partnerships that are aligned with our strategic plan and provide critical skills that result in strong student outcomes.”
The next workshop is scheduled to run on Friday, February 4th at the Red Bull Arena.
