On Feb. 12, Ralph Izzo, CEO of PSEG, will come to NJIT and present his approach to tackling climate change and the steps needed in order to advance society to a low- and eventually no-carbon future.

The event will be held in Guttenberg Information Technologies Center room 1400 from 2:30-4 p.m. and is open to the public.

In his talk, Izzo will lay out the five actions that must be focused on today in order to reduce the most damaging impacts of climate change tomorrow: carbon pricing, renewable resources, nuclear, energy efficiency and the electrification of transportation. This five-prong approach has been utilized to build reliability and resilience into PSEG’s electric grid, and employing the same approach can help reduce the global carbon footprint.

Izzo is a well-known leader within the utility industry, as well as the public policy arena. He is frequently asked to testify before Congress and speak to organizations on matters pertaining to national energy policy.

Izzo has been chairman and CEO of PSEG since April 2007. Previously, Izzo was president and COO of Public Service Electric and Gas Company. Since joining PSE&G in 1992, Izzo has held several executive positions within PSEG’s family of companies. Izzo received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in mechanical engineering and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in applied physics from Columbia University. He also received an MBA, with a concentration in finance, from the Rutgers Graduate School of Management.
