NJIT Staff Members Featured on Workforce Panel

Gale Spak, associate vice president for Continuing and Distance Education, will be one of the panelists.

Two NJIT staff members will serve on a panel of industry representatives at the presentation on “The Future of Work is Changing Rapidly. Are You Ready?” being conducted jointly by Jersey Shore Association for Human Resources and Monmouth County Workforce Development, at Bell Works, Tuesday, May 15, 2018, 9 a.m. -11 a.m., in Holmdel, N.J.

Gale Spak, associate vice president of Continuing and Distance Education at NJIT, and Ian Trammell, executive director of Economic and Cluster Development at New Jersey Innovation Institute, will discuss the skills needed for jobs now, and in the future. Topics include:

  • Transferable skills
  • Pathways that currently exist in industries and across industries
  • Most desirable technology skills and soft skills
  • Challenges for the workforce growth in this century
  • The pros and cons of many generations in today’s workforce
  • The “Gig Economy”

The Monmouth County Freeholders have decided to focus on three sectors for job search:  health care, information technology and tourism, and retail and hospitality.
