New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has been ranked as one of the country’s top public colleges for animation in the 2019 Animation School Rankings published by Animation Career Review.
The online resource for aspiring animators, digital designers and game designers ranked NJIT No. 28 nationally, placing in the top 30 percent of colleges considered.
Additionally, NJIT ranked first on the list of top New Jersey Animation Schools and Colleges; 13th nationally among schools and colleges with animation-related Bachelor of Arts programs; and No. 19 on the East Coast.
“We are all gratified to see that not only are the animation and graphic design components of our Digital Design program have been recognized, but that we are moving up in those rankings and levels of recognition year to year,” said Glenn Goldman, director of the School of Art + Design, housed within the College of Architecture and Design at NJIT. “This is, in part, due to the comprehensive and generalized program, and the number and variety of courses our students must take in order to cover the various topics related to the creation of digital content in a serious way.”
Animation Career Review noted that the School of Art + Design offers a B.A. in digital design with two tracks: entertainment and interactive media/production. The program offers a bevy of immersive courses, including character design, character development, acting for animators, color and composition, imaginary worlds and game modification.
“Along with the national recognition, we are proud that we are considered to be the best in New Jersey in these areas,” added Goldman.
