NJIT Ranked 26th Nationwide for Return on Investment
UniversityHQ, “an independent source of information for students pursuing higher education options and/or advancement in their career field,” has ranked NJIT among the country’s Top 55 colleges for return on investment (ROI). The university placed 26th out of 3,300 schools nationwide and joins only two other New Jersey higher education institutions in the listing.
Many factors were taken into account by UniversityHQ to determine the ROI ranking, most notably the average net cost of tuition and average graduate’s salary. Among the others are admission rate, percentage of students receiving financial aid, number of programs offered, availability of online programs, retention rate, four-year and six-year graduate rates, number of diplomas awarded and loan default rate.
The ranking methodology involved data gathered from government resources that include the National Center for Education Statistics, “the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education in the U.S. and other nations”; the U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard, which “highlights key indicators about the cost and value of institutions across the country”; and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, which “measures labor market activity, working conditions, price changes, and productivity in the U.S. economy.” Information from PayScale, an advanced compensation platform that researches and compares average salaries in the job market, and which ranked NJIT No. 35 for ROI last year, was also considered.
