NJIT Promotes from Within to Fill New Bursar & Associate Treasurer Role
NJIT's Conrad Corpus has assumed the new role of university bursar and associate treasurer.
Corpus, a longtime university employee, previously was director of Financial Systems and Innovation (FSI). He has been with NJIT since 2006.
In his new role, Corpus will manage the overall student financial services function, which includes billings and receivables. Additionally, he will oversee the treasury operations, focusing on managing banking relations, credit card operations and federal and state regulatory compliances.
“One of the top priorities as the university bursar and associate treasurer is to strive and achieve a high-level of customer satisfaction and experience for our students and their families. In keeping with NJIT’s pursuit of excellence, we will continue to evaluate processes to deliver best-in-class service,” Corpus said.
“It is important to recognize our core strengths and at the same time, focus on how to strategically enhance business operations,'' explained Catherine Brennan, senior vice president and chief financial officer. “With Conrad serving the university in this newly envisioned hybrid role, I am confident we are establishing a strong operational foundation now and into the future, and we will continue to seek opportunities within the Finance Division to both better serve the community while creating career paths for our dedicated employees.”
Corpus was appointed because he “understands our financial systems, has deep experience in treasury management and has developed strong relationships across the university,” Brennan added. “He’s also extremely proactive and very customer-service oriented.”
To fill his previous role in FSI, Brennan also promoted from within, naming Lily Chang as director. Chang, who previously was assistant director, joined the staff in 2004 after earning two degrees at NJIT: a bachelor's in computer science and applied mathematics and a master’s in applied statistics.
