A portrait of President Joel S. Bloom was presented in a special ceremony on June 15 in NJIT’s Eberhardt Hall boardroom.
Unveiled in front of family, friends, faculty and members of the Board of Trustees, the oil painting continues the tradition of honoring leaders of the institution. The ceremony, led by Robert Cohen '83, '84, '87, chair of NJIT’s Board of Trustees, characterized the unveiling as a right of passage and a significant moment in NJIT’s history.
“These portraits are a legacy that is everlasting. It keeps the person here on campus,” said Cohen. “It’s a reminder of the influence that all of these presidents have had in the past, and a reminder of how to go forward for future generations.”
Bloom’s tenure as NJIT’s eighth president has been a time of profound transformation and unprecedented progress, seeing remarkable growth in enrollment, diversity, research, fundraising and campus expansion.
“It’s sobering to be up here with the likes of some of the outstanding presidents of this university,” said Bloom. “Thank you friends, trustees, donors and to the outstanding team of people I’ve had the privilege of working with and for — thank you.”
