Leir Research Institute (LRI) Weekly Seminar Series — Martin Tuchman School of Management
From 1–2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, the LRI hosts a discussion of “Antecedents of Unicorn Startups.” Co-authored by NJIT’s Raja Roy and Shanthi Gopalakrishnan, and featuring Ph.D. candidate Xi Zhang, the study examines the effects of entrepreneurs' heterogeneity on the chances of creating a unicorn venture (startup valued over $1 billion). We find that the startup firm's intellectual property partially mediates the effects of the founder's experience on the chances of becoming a unicorn, and that corporate venture capital negatively moderate the effect of a founder's experience on their intellectual property. To join, go to https://njit.webex.com/meet/rroy. Upcoming seminars can be found at https://centers.njit.edu/leir/spring21-seminars/.
Weston Hall Facade Restoration Work — Department of Campus Planning, Design & Construction
Please be advised that the Weston Hall facade restoration work is expected to begin on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. The 1st activity that will take place will be the installation of sidewalk sheds along Warren Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Linked is a plan showing the locations where the sidewalk sheds will be installed for pedestrian protection. The sidewalk shed installation is expected to begin on Wednesday, April 14, and be completed by Friday, April 16. The contractor will begin the work on the southwest end of the building starting on Monday, April 19, 2021. It is anticipated that work at the northeast portion of the building will start on or around, Monday, April 26, 2021. This 1st phase of the facade restoration work is expected to be completed by the end of June 2021. We expect this outside work activity to be noisy at times and possibly disruptive to the building occupants. We certainly appreciate everyone's anticipated cooperation and patience as we work to complete this important restoration work.
