Leir Research Institute (LRI) Weekly Seminar Series — Martin Tuchman School of Management
In this week’s virtual seminar at 1–2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27, the LRI hosts a discussion of “What happens AFTER Crowdfunding.” The paper — authored by Haisu Zhang, assistant professor at NJIT — looks at the booming phenomenon of crowdfunding and focuses on the less-studied subject of the after effects of a project after crowdfunding. Zhang combines two sources of web data to examine one question: Can crowdfunding success predict commercial success? Using a practice-driven, theory-oriented approach, the author finds counterintuitive results and will discuss possible theoretical explanations based on the findings at the presentation. To join, go to https://njit.webex.com/meet/rroy. Upcoming seminars can be found at https://centers.njit.edu/leir/spring21-seminars/.
