New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has been named a “Very High Research Activity (R1)” institution by the Carnegie Classification®, “the leading framework for recognizing and describing institutional diversity in U.S. higher education for the past four and a half decades.” NJIT is one of only three R1 research universities in New Jersey.

At the initiation of College of Architecture and Design (CoAD) interim Dean Tony Schuman, six area schools of architecture are participating in a semester-long housing studio organized around the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ASCA) Timber in the City design competition.

NJIT's Greg Puccio and Justin Petway paced NJIT as the Highlanders went undefeated (5-0) at the MACFA A vs. B meet hosted by the Highlanders at NJIT's Wellness and Events Center on Sunday. NJIT, which has finished the season with a 21-6 mark (77 percent win record) went undefeated topping — William & Mary (25-2), Maryland (26-1), Navy (21-6), Johns Hopkins (18-9) and Haverford (21-6) for an impressive 111-24 overall record on the day.

The NJIT baseball team finished opening weekend with a 3-0-1 record as the final game of the four-game series ended in a 9-9 draw with Eastern Michigan. Due to travel arrangements, both teams agreed that no inning would be start after 12:30 p.m. Central time. As the eighth inning concluded beyond that mark, the game was forced to end with a score of 9-9. The last time the Highlanders were part of tie was against Saint Peter's on March 31, 2015, an 8-8 tie after 10 innings, called due to darkness.

Each day, millions of gamers log online to spend their free time playing Blizzard Entertainment’s popular video game title, “World of Warcraft” — a virtual, open-box-styled “land of myth, magic and legendary adventure.” However, the immersive nature of fantasy role-playing video games — similar to that of "World of Warcraft" — has been expanding to classroom education as well.

Almost 100 middle school students from more than 40 schools across New Jersey recently participated in a cyber robotics coding competition held at NJIT. They were finalists in the New Jersey Cyber Robotics Coding Competition, an exciting online event in which students used a cloud-based simulation platform featuring a virtual, 3D animated robot.

The College of Architecture and Design (CoAD) at NJIT is honored to present an exhibition of Alexandra Schoenberg’s and Leslie Adler’s solo and collaborative works called “Psycho-geographies.” These collaborative works present the viewer with an alternating process of internalizing and projecting from the outer space of the world to the inner space of the mind. As observers, we exist outside what is observed but at the same time we internalize through empathy. We create dioramas as a vehicle for looking at what we frame and what frames us.

The College of Architecture and Design (CoAD) has released their spring lecture series lineup, which are free and open to the public. This series features an eclectic mix that includes themes like innovation, urbanism and religiosity in the public space, to the yearly design showcase signature event.
