NJIT's Greg Puccio and Justin Petway paced NJIT as the Highlanders went undefeated (5-0) at the MACFA A vs. B meet hosted by the Highlanders at NJIT's Wellness and Events Center on Sunday.
NJIT, which has finished the season with a 21-6 mark (77 percent win record) went undefeated topping — William & Mary (25-2), Maryland (26-1), Navy (21-6), Johns Hopkins (18-9) and Haverford (21-6) for an impressive 111-24 overall record on the day.
Puccio and Petway led the epee squad to a 41-4 mark. Puccio went 10-0, recording 3-0 victories against Johns Hopkins and Haverford while Petway finished with a 9-0 record, posting 3-0 wins against William and Mary and Navy, while picking up a pair of wins over Johns Hopkins.
On the season, Puccio stands at 40-13 overall while Petway stands with a 24-15 overall record.
Pedro D'Avila notched a 9-1 mark while Thomas Slawinski added seven wins on the epee strip.
Thomas Manley posted a 9-1 mark of his own on the foil strip with a 3-0 win over Haverford and a pair of victories against Johns Hopkins and Navy. Manley stands at 37-13 overall on the season.
On the epee strip, three Highlanders — Brett Bogert, Robert Hondor and Rourke Hillyer each notched eight wins. On the season, Bogert is 35-12, Hondor (39-13) and Hillyer (40-13).
NJIT will return to action at the MACFA Championships on March 3.
