Assistant Professor Zhihao "Zephyr" Yao of the Department of Computer Science at NJIT's Ying Wu College of Computing has been named among IEEE Computing’s Top Early Career Professionals. This prestigious recognition is awarded to individuals worldwide who have demonstrated exceptional early-career achievements and are actively shaping the future of technology in the fields of artificial intelligence, software engineering and hardware.

The NJIT track and field teams earned All-East honors in nine events at the IC4A/ECAC Indoor Championships this weekend at Boston University Track and Tennis Center. Nine medalists is the most at an IC4A/ECAC Indoor Championships in program history. The top eight finishers in each event earned medalist and All-East honors.

We’ve mapped nearly all of Mars’ surface from orbit, yet we know less about Earth’s ocean floor — almost 75% remains unmapped in high resolution. This terrestrial blind spot is driving NJIT Mathematics Professor Eliza Michalopoulou’s latest research, funded by the Office of Naval Research (ONR). The project aims to improve how scientists explore the vast, uncharted ocean floor through sound.

NJIT’s Albert Dorman Honors College held its First-Year Seminar Biodiversity Initiatives colloquium, in which six student-led proposals were presented to increase and sustain biodiversity through a campus planting. This year’s plan focused around a renovation near Faculty Memorial Hall. These student-driven initiatives allow for the Urban Ecology Lab (UEL), ADHC, the Real Estate Development and Capital Operations (REDCO) and the Office of Sustainability to team up together to make NJIT’s campus into a more sustainable and biodiverse community.

Tim Moore Jr. nailed a three-pointer jumper from the corner as time expired to give the Highlanders a dramatic 75-72 victory over Binghamton on Tuesday night. Moore finished the game with 22 points for his sixth 20-point game of the season, and his game-winner was his third three-point make in four attempts.

A competition to compare the brains of male vs. female fruit flies led New Jersey Institute of Technology researchers and two high school students to a second-place finish in the latest edition of the FlyWire Data Challenge, but more importantly the team learned new lessons about using artificial intelligence for setting up research with supercomputers.

The NJIT men's fencing team earned a second-place finish for the third consecutive season at the 2025 MACFA Championships Sunday afternoon hosted by Drew University. Michael Bindas, in his first season at the helm of the Highlanders, earned 2025 MACFA Coach of the Year.

The NJIT baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Iona after winning both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Yogi Berra Stadium. The Highlanders broke out the bats in a game one win, 16-3, before using a gem from MT Morrissey in game two for a 3-2 win. Game 1: NJIT 16, Iona 3

Featured violinist Kwao Taylor's remarkable performance quickly engaged the 200+ attendees at the annual opening celebration for NJIT’s Black History Month. The month long celebration was marked by engaging events, insightful discussions and a strong sense of community on NJIT’s campus.
