NJIT has been chosen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to provide training and technical assistance to communities in EPA Region 2, which comprises New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, under the Technical Assistance to Brownfields (TAB) Program.

NJIT’s online MBA program has earned a top 100 spot in Fortune Education, slotting in at No. 98 in the nationwide ranking. NJIT is one of only two New Jersey universities to achieve this recognition.

Kelly Hutzell, an urban designer and licensed architect, brings fifteen years of teaching and academic program development experience to her role as director of the School of Architecture at NJIT. Her academic career has been bolstered by more than a decade of practice, including at Machado and Silvetti Associates and OverUnder in Boston focused on public buildings and spaces. Having worked at Carnegie Mellon (formerly Carnegie Tech) and Wentworth Institute of Technology, she is aligned with the lineage of all three of these polytechnic institutions.

After a year layoff, one of NJIT’s standout annual research events returned to the campus community this month — more than 30 of the university’s top student-researchers took to their webcams to present their work for a virtual audience at the 2021 Dana Knox Research Showcase, "A Glimpse Into the Future.”

A day after sweeping a doubleheader from No. 26 Stony Brook, the NJIT baseball team earned a split to take the four-game America East series in wild fashion on Sunday at Jim Hynes Stadium on the campus of Kean University. Stony Brook (20-11, 16-4 America East) took game one 5-2 and led by as many as six early in game two, before a ferocious come back from NJIT (11-19, 10-14 America East) gave the Highlanders a walk-off 9-8 victory. All three of NJIT's win's this weekend came by one run. Game One

The NJIT men's swimming and diving team wrapped up its first-ever America East Swimming Championships appearance Sunday evening, claiming third place overall with a total of 614 points. Binghamton took the men's championship with 889 points and UMBC placed second with 872. In the women's swimming championships, New Hampshire prevailed (817 points) over UMBC (621.5) and Vermont (613.5).

NJIT’s Center for Pre-College Programs and Newark College of Engineering this month introduced their first-ever STEM competition for New Jersey’s elementary school students — the eSTEM Competition. Highlighting the marathon-like week of friendly competition was a special solar energy design challenge issued to schools across the state this past February, culminating in unique showcase of bright engineering ingenuity from scores of young innovators.

The university is saddened to share the news that Steve Kalafer, a member of the Board of Overseers since 2014, passed away earlier today, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family.

New Jersey Institute of Technology has earned global recognition from the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking for the university’s pursuit of and progress toward targets set forth by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), earning No. 90 globally and No. 2 nationally in two key areas.
