Memorial Day
Dear Highlanders,
On this Memorial Day, as many of us gather with family and friends, let us also take time to honor those who have sacrificed their lives while serving in the United States military. That is the purpose of this holiday, and I would like to extend my unwavering gratitude to NJIT’s veterans and current members of the Armed Forces for their service, their courage, and their selflessness.
NJIT has hundreds of students and thousands of alumni who are veterans, and our university has been home to Air Force ROTC Detachment 490 since 1949. That unit has been training and commissioning new leaders, as 2nd Lieutenants, for the United States Air Force for almost 75 years. NJIT also has a long history of contributing to the military through research and technological innovation related to issues of national defense, security, resource management, and service member health and wellbeing.
In addition to honoring members of the military today, I encourage everyone to thank the families of those who serve or have served. They share in the sacrifices made by their loved ones, and they also deserve our appreciation.
May all of you, your families, and your loved ones have a peaceful Memorial Day.
Sincerely,
Teik C. Lim
NJIT President
