Fall Piano Recital Featuring Robert Argasinski
The last Wednesday of September 2018 is scheduled to bring an original concert performance to campus from Robert Argasinski — competition-winning virtuoso pianist, composer and NJIT Albert Dorman Honors College student. Argasinski will perform a rich collection of his own compositions, including Waltz Appassionata, The Tragedy of War, and The Hero’s Journey. The program will continue with a collection of short waltzes, including Chopin’s Waltz Op. 64 No. 2 as well as Shostakovich’s Second Waltz. The program will conclude with a short selection of world music, including the charming pasodoble Y Viva España and the passionate tango Por Una Cabeza. The event is part of the 2018-2019 Rauch Family Foundation Charitable Trust Concert Series at NJIT.
Argasinski is a sophomore studying Computer Science with a minor in Applied Mathematics at the Albert Dorman Honors College of NJIT. For eight years, he studied music under the guidance of esteemed pedagogue and concert pianist Sophia Agranovich. Over the years, Argasinski has received top awards in many competitions, including AADGT, Forte International Competition, Crescendo International Competition, International Music and Arts Society, and National League of Performing Arts. Master classes with Dr. Veda Kaplinsky, Dr. Nina Lelchuk, Dr. Stefan Young, and Dr. Stephan Möller have enhanced Argasinski's musicianship skills. He has performed in Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, Steinway Hall, as well as Mozarthaus and Prayner Conservatory in Vienna.
Recently, Argasinski has developed a strong passion for music composition, which has led him to start taking online lessons with renowned composer Dr. Kenneth Lampl. Argasinski's compositions have received recognition in the Eric Steiner Composition Competition as well as the MTNA Composition Competition. They have also enriched many fundraising and cultural events at venues such as the Polish Consulate General, the Kościuszko Foundation, the Polish & Slavic Center, and the Polish Cultural Foundation, where he performed his first solo recital, In the Footsteps of Chopin. Through his compositions, Argasinski wishes to evoke the spectrum of emotions, hidden in the depths of the human soul.
