New NJIT Grads Share Memories and Career Goals

Of the thousands of students graduating from New Jersey Institute of Technology today, many will bring their families to take pictures on the grassy hill in front of Eberhardt Hall — it's a university tradition.
A line quickly formed at noon as students made their way back from official commencement ceremonies at Newark's Prudential Center. Several new alumni spoke about their memories and next steps.
Josh Gregg and Cassidy Wojcik both earned degrees in mechanical engineering. Gregg, from Rochester, N.Y., also played on the men’s volleyball team. One of his favorite memories outside of the volleyball court was his senior project, for which he and a friend designed a 3D-printed volleyball that never needs inflating. He’s going to work for Mercury Systems which is a defense and aerospace manufacturer. Wojcik, from Toms River, interned at Walt Disney World on the ride safety team. She considers herself a Disneyholic and is applying for full-time work there.

Nadia Zhecheva, originally from Bulgaria, moved to Nashua, N.H. and came to NJIT for civil engineering. She switched to mathematics and will work as an insurance property analyst. She also ran track and cross-country for the Highlanders.

Anchita Kandadi, an international student from India, earned her chemistry degree and is applying to pharmacy school. “It goes back to my grandpa when he was sick with cancer in india. You didn't have hospitals close by. The closest to him was a pharmacy. So I thought I want to be a pharmacist.” Outside of class, she enjoyed being part of Ehsaas, which is an Indian dance team between NJIT and Rutgers-Newark.
