Dale A. McLeod Appointed Vice President for Human Resources at NJIT
NJIT has appointed Dale A. McLeod as its new vice president for human resources. McLeod will join the university effective March 16 with the dual mission of delivering a world-class human resources function with a strong service orientation for faculty and staff, and supporting the objectives of the university’s new strategic plan, Building on a Strong Foundation–NJIT 2025.
The university employs a workforce of more than 1,300 full-time-equivalent employees, served by a dynamic HR team. NJIT 2025 will expand on the remarkable achievements of the university’s 2020 Vision in student learning, student support and research with an added focus on prominence and guiding principles that include diversity, sustainability, recognition and transformation.
“NJIT’s dedication toward student economic upward mobility coupled with a STEM-focused academic curriculum resonates with me on a personal level as a former Pell grant recipient who obtained technology-related degrees. As a result, I understand firsthand the lifelong impact a STEM education has on a student in today’s technology-driven marketplace,” said McLeod. “I am truly honored to join such an impactful organization whose core values mirror my own, and look forward to engaging with every level of this great community in order to build upon NJITs strong foundation and foster a culture of excellence that puts people first.”
McLeod brings extensive higher education experience in human resources management and human resources information systems technology to NJIT. He previously served in leadership roles at Pace University, Seton Hall University and The George Washington University (GW). Most recently, he was interim vice president of human resource management and development at GW, where he was responsible for HR strategy and operations that encompassed learning and development, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits strategy.
In his role at GW, McLeod developed a four-year human capital management strategic plan, the notable accomplishments of which included establishing employee engagement programs, enhancing talent management and talent attraction practices, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of HR processes and programs, and overseeing development programs to align with institutional goals and industry best practices. He was also a member of GW’s Culture Leadership Steering Committee, which implemented programs aimed at fostering a commitment to service and improving the experience of all constituents.
“Throughout the search process, Dale impressed members of our campus community with both his extensive experience, his understanding of the practical functions of the human resource enterprise, and his outstanding leadership skills,” said NJIT President Joel S. Bloom. “We are very happy to welcome Dale to NJIT and look forward to the positive impact he will have on our university.”
McLeod earned a Master of Science in Information Systems Technology from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Pace University. He also holds a senior professional HR certification from the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), and is an active member of both SHRM and the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources.
