Rizwan Baig, chief engineer of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, visited NJIT to give a presentation on building the 21st-century transportation system. His talk, covering the architectural, design, construction and asset management aspects of the agency, highlighted the agency’s plan to revitalize infrastructure that is essential to economic growth and vitality.

Two NJIT projects have been awarded as part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) People, Prosperity, and the Planet (P3) Program. The $1.2 million program funded 16 different student-based projects throughout the country to research and develop innovative solutions that address environmental and public health challenges.

The NJIT projects will tackle water quality and the detection of “forever chemicals” in the air. 

Robert Cohen, a three-time New Jersey Institute of Technology alumnus and current chair of the university’s Board of Trustees, leads a digital, robotics and enabling technology division at medical technology firm Stryker Corp. that grabbed Apple’s attention this month for its work with the new VisionPro mixed-reality headset.

Jorge Alberto Medina '23 grew up with electronics. He recalls watching his dad disassemble and rebuild electronic equipment, and leafed through stacks of monthly electronics magazines as his light reading material. The exposure grew into a passion, and Medina set his sights on a journey that ultimately brought him to NJIT.

Six NJIT researchers have secured grants in the latest round of funding provided by the New Jersey Health Foundation (NJHF), which has increased its funding in both its Community Health, Social Services and Education Program, as well as its traditional research program this year.

The $4 million round of funding brings the NJHF’s total to $70 million since the inception of its annual grant program.

Recently, the ingenuity of Newark College of Engineering’s brightest first-year students was on full display at the 2024 NCE First Year Engineering Design Showcase.

New Jersey Institute of Technology continues to be recognized nationally by U.S. News & World Report for its online master’s offerings in information technology, engineering and business.

For 2024, NJIT earned two rankings inside the top 100: No. 31 for its online master’s in information technology and No. 61 for its online master’s in engineering. In addition, the university saw two other online programs make lists for the best in the U.S.: its master’s in business and its MBA.

New Jersey Institute of Technology is featured in the premiere season of “The College Tour en Español,” a new series from Emmy-nominated producers, which is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Hosted by Lorena Segura, “The College Tour en Español” travels the country, showcasing colleges and universities through the unique lens of Spanish-speaking students on today's campuses. Each episode offers an intimate view of college life, allowing the entire Spanish-speaking population worldwide a chance to explore colleges.

Increases in electric car sales and offshore wind farm construction are poised to both tax and bolster the American power transmission grid, so researchers at New Jersey Institute of Technology are building a grid simulator to help industry predict the effects and plan accordingly.

NJIT has secured a $6 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to translate science and engineering discoveries into market-ready technologies that will improve quality of life in areas ranging from health care, to sustainable energy, to data privacy.
