Announcement of VP HR Appointment
NJIT Community Members,
I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Dale A. McLeod as NJIT's new vice president for human resources, effective March 16. Dale will drive our efforts to deliver a world-class human resources function with a strong service orientation for faculty and staff while also supporting the objectives of the university’s new strategic plan, Building on a Strong Foundation–NJIT 2025.
Dale has extensive higher education experience in human resources management and human resources information systems technology. He previously served in leadership roles at Pace University, Seton Hall University and The George Washington University (GW). Most recently, Dale was interim vice president of human resource management and development at GW, where he was responsible for HR strategy and operations that encompassed learning and development, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits strategy.
In his role at GW, Dale developed a four-year human capital management strategic plan, the notable accomplishments of which included establishing employee engagement programs, enhancing talent management and talent attraction practices, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of HR processes and programs, and overseeing development programs to align with institutional goals and industry best practices. He also was a member of GW’s Culture Leadership Steering Committee, which implemented programs aimed at fostering a commitment to service and improving the experience of all constituents.
Dale earned a Master of Science in Information Systems Technology from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Pace University. He also holds a senior professional HR certification from the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and is an active member of both SHRM and the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources.
Dale recently said, "NJIT’s dedication toward student economic upward mobility coupled with a STEM-focused academic curriculum resonates with me on a personal level as a former Pell grant recipient who obtained technology-related degrees. As a result, I understand firsthand the lifelong impact a STEM education has on a student in today’s technology-driven marketplace. I am truly honored to join such an impactful organization whose core values mirror my own, and look forward to engaging with every level of this great community in order to build upon NJIT's strong foundation and foster a culture of excellence that puts people first.”
Please join me in welcoming Dale to the NJIT community.
Joel S. Bloom, president of NJIT
