Ciara Adams recorded five points with two goals and an assist, leading the NJIT women's soccer team (3-1-1) to a 3-0 victory against Rider (1-3-1) on Sunday afternoon at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium. The Highlanders earned their fourth straight shutout with the win.
Kelsey Ramos scored her first goal of the season in the 14th minute off a well-placed pass by Adams. Adams added her first goal of the game in the 25th minute, assisted by Briana Andreoli, who recorded her first assist of the season.
Andreoli had an opportunity to score a goal in the 41st minute, but an excellent save by the Rider goalkeeper kept the score 2-0 heading into halftime. NJIT outshot Rider 10-3 in the first half.
In the 80th minute, a Rider player fouled Sofia Mignon in the box, resulting in a penalty kick. Adams missed the penalty kick, but the ball rebounded to her, and she scored her second goal of the game. The Flemington, New Jersey native recorded her second career multi-goal game, her first since August 18, 2022, against LIU.
Adams, Kirra Hyder, and Emily Jozak each took four shots. NJIT led Rider in shots (23-4), shots on goal (9-1), and corner kicks (9-3).
The Highlanders have now won by two or more goals in all six of their all-time victories against Rider.
