Women's Soccer Announces Schedule For 2022 Campaign
NJIT women's soccer head coach Ally Nick has announced the Highlanders' 2022 season schedule, which will consist of 18 regular season games (10 home, 8 away), an eight-game America East conference slate, and a pair of scrimmages to kick off the season.
The Highlanders will host two scrimmages on Aug. 8 (Rider at 6 p.m.) and Aug. 14 (Hofstra at 11 a.m.) before starting the season with a pair of home matches against LIU (Aug.18 at 6 p.m.) and St. John's (Aug. 21 at 12 p.m.).
After those four home events, NJIT will close out August on its season-long three-game road trip, taking on three teams in three different states over the course of a week: Seton Hall in South Orange (Aug. 25 at 4 p.m.), Drexel in Philadelphia (Aug. 28 at 1 p.m.), and Wagner on Staten Island (Aug. 31 at 7 p.m.).
September opens up with back-to-back home matches against Lafayette (Sept. 4 at 12 p.m.) and Hartford (Sept. 8 at 5:30 p.m.) before a pair of Garden State contests at Saint Peter's (Sept. 11 at 3 p.m.) and at home against Monmouth (Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.).
The end of the month brings the beginning of America East play. The Highlanders will make trips to Maine (Sept. 18 at 12 p.m.) and Binghamton (Sept. 29; TBD), with a home game and America East quarterfinal rematch against New Hampshire (Sept. 25 at 1 p.m.) in between.
NJIT's longest homestand of the year opens things in October as the Highlanders host conference foes UMass Lowell (Oct. 2 at Noon) and UMBC (Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.) around the team's non-conference finale against Delaware State (Oct. 7 at 5 p.m.).
The regular season will conclude with a road matchup against UAlbany (Oct. 16 at 1 p.m.), the home finale against defending America East champion Vermont (Oct. 23 at 12 p.m.), and the regular season finale at conference newcomer Bryant (Oct. 27 at 3 p.m.).
NJIT will look to put together a record good enough to qualify for the America East Tournament for the second consecutive year. The tournament begins with quarterfinal action on Oct. 30, with the semifinals being held on Nov. 3 and the Championship being played on Nov. 6.
