NJIT's Ying Wu College of Computing is matching top tech talent from its student ranks with companies needing to remain ahead of the curve in a competitive marketplace, in a new initiative called Early Access to Talent.

Samuel Carlos Wins Boren Scholarship Award to Study in Taiwan
The world is at Samuel Carlos’ fingertips. Since coming NJIT’s Albert Dorman Honors College out of high school with an associates degree in math and computer science, he’s interned at Amazon, Google, and Facebook. He’s since added a third major - history with a focus on the history of computer science and is now planning to study Mandarin and Southeast Asian technology and politics at National Taiwan University in the spring and summer of 2022.

The Ying Wu College of Computing is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Julie Ancis, as interim chair of the department of Informatics, commencing December 1, 2021. New Computer Science Elective Examines the History of Computing
A new course about the history of information systems will be offered by Ying Wu College of Computing this spring, where students will learn about everything from calculation methods of ancient and medieval times, through early visions of mechanical computer architecture in the Industrial Age, straight through to the pioneers of 20th-century solid-state electronics and digital networks.

Students who developed software for game animation, package delivery, lecture transcription and wildlife sightings were all winners at HackNJIT this month.
The event was almost back to normal this year, being in-person for NJIT students — complete with midnight snacks and impromptu 1:00 a.m. karaoke — and online for external entrants, unlike last year's hackathon which was fully virtual because of the COVID pandemic.

Streaming Data Analytics Has New Method Planned by NJIT, USC, Harvard
E-commerce sites, military planners and streaming media providers all want to analyze multiple sources of live data as quickly as possible, a holy grail of data science which is about to become possible through new software called StreamWare, from researchers at Harvard University, New Jersey Institute of Technology and the University of Southern California.

Members of NJIT's new Center for Artificial Intelligence Research will look to expand knowledge of the theory, data and applications of their field, which director Grace Wang said is quickly evolving from experimental to practical status.

NJIT Tops National Ranking For Computer Programming
New Jersey Institute of Technology leads U.S. universities in teaching programming languages, according to a new survey by HackerRank, which sells products to help human resources departments evaluate software developers.
