This Information Systems Graduate Has a Clear Vision For His Future
Agrim Sachdeva ’18 received a master’s degree in information systems from NJIT this spring, but he isn’t making a big deal about it. While many recent graduates are thinking about relaxing a little, maybe taking a vacation, Sachdeva is still spending time at NJIT. He’s continuing to work with the university’s information systems department, where he develops software applications that help NJIT run smoothly. Graduation has not caused him to rest on his laurels. Sachdeva doesn’t have time for that, because he has a long-term vision for what he hopes to do with the skills he’s learned at NJIT…

NJIT Car Maven Takes on the American Solar Challenge, Then It's Off to Tesla
Jason Murzello’s fascination with cars began in a fairly typical way – with his own matchbox set – but then veered into technology by way of video games such as “Need for Speed,” which allow budding aficionados to tinker with performance by switching out not only tires, but suspensions and engines as well. Add another layer, the chance to build a real, solar car from scratch in a garage a block from campus, and you have the makings of a career.
This summer, the 2018 electrical engineering graduate will begin working in a New Jersey Tesla dealership, where, as a technician, he will…

NJIT Grad is Now a Medicolegal Death Investigator
For some, the work of a professional “death investigator” might sound like something straight out of “Law & Order” and “CSI.”
However, for Carly Berdan ’18, that job will soon be a very real career.
With her graduate coursework completed, Berdan will soon wrap up her master’s thesis at NJIT this summer, leaving with a M.S. in biology and advanced expertise in forensic science.
That experience and training has helped land Berdan the distinct and important role of medicolegal death investigator, examining suspicious and unusual deaths for the Northern Regional State Medical…

At 74, Chris Antholis is One of NJIT's Newest Grads
It was about five minutes after Robert Dresnack’s Water Resources Engineering class had begun when a septuagenarian poked his head into the room. Puzzled, the professor inquired, “May I help you?”
In fact, he could. “I’m a student in this class,” replied Chris Antholis, then 72, who was six years into his quest to earn a Bachelor of Science in civil and environmental engineering. The required course, on the increasingly urgent topic of water supply planning, had not yet been scratched off his list. He quickly took a seat at an empty desk.
A longtime building contractor who spent the…

One Graduate's Advice: When the Road to Success Gets Bumpy, Keep Driving
In a commencement speech that mixed humor and practicality, Student Senate President Mark Neubauer* described the road to success as navigable, if bumpy at times. As his classmates prepare to embark on it, he urged them to emulate the “traffic cones found on campus" and “be resilient.”
“Being passionate about what you do is amazing. Being excited to change the world is fantastic. But passion alone will only get you so far,” he warned. “You can’t be passionate about all the dull, exhausting, and unpleasant things life will throw your way. But you can be resilient and keep on…
