Rene White Tabs Second Straight CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team Recognition
NJIT fifth-year forward Rene White has been named as a First-Team selection on the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Men's Soccer Team the organization announced on Friday.
White, a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America First-Team and All-District First-Team selectee, was named to the Dean's List for six semesters, graduating in Fall 20 Cum Laude with a BS in Business Concentration in Financial Technology, boosting a 3.668 GPA. Enrolled in the MS Business program, White holds a 3.91 Grad GPA in Management.
The Highlander co-captain from Bloomfield, NJ, ranks first in the NCAA among active players in career goals (49) and in points (108). He ranks tied for 21st in the nation in total goals (11) and tied for 25th in points (26). The America East first-team honoree, sits atop the America East in goals and points while ranking fourth in game-winning goals (3).
White and women's fencing standout Marina Arrese earned CoSIDA Academic All-America and All-District honors for the 2020-21 season, becoming the second and third Highlander student-athletes at the Division I level to receive CoSIDA All-America recognition since 2009.
NJIT women's volleyball alumnae Sabrina Baby '09 became the first Highlander student-athlete in any sport at the Division I level selected to the CoSIDA All-District team in 2009 and went on to receive Academic All-America laurels.
NJIT men's basketball alums Reilly Walsh '20 is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District team honoree (2017-18; 2019-20) and Shyquan Gibbs '20 earned the recognition in 2018-19.
