Lenny Kaplan Named To USILA Board of Directors
Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics Lenny Kaplan was recently added to the Board of Directors of the United State Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA). Kaplan was appointed to the Board alongside Washington and Lee Director of Athletic Communication Brian Laubscher.
"The board of Directors are excited to add an athletic administrator the caliber of Lenny Kaplan. His passion and commitment to student athletes over his career will be a tremendous asset to the board as we continue to help enhance and develop intercollegiate Lacrosse. I look forward to working with Lenny," said USILA President and Pace University Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Thomas Mariano.
Kaplan has been instrumental in guiding the growth of NJIT Athletics, first at the NCAA Division II level and, since late 2002, in its successful reclassification to NCAA Division I.
"I am honored to be named to the USILA Board of Directors," Kaplan said. "I look forward to working with my fellow board members and the Lacrosse community to continue the progress and growth of the sport."
Kaplan played a major role in the announcement of NJIT becoming the tenth full member institution of the America East on July 1, 2020.
Most recently, Kaplan was named the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) President in August 2021. He has been a member of the NCAA Division I Men's Volleyball Committee from 2016-21, including three years as Committee Chair, and also served as the athletic administration representative on the EIVA Executive Committee.
A highlight in Kaplan's career was being named Athletic Director of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) in 2018 and in September 2015, he was lauded at the annual Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Honors Luncheon as one of two named Administrator of the Year in Division I.
