Faculty and Staff Celebrate at 'Welcome to Campus Reception'
NJIT faculty and staff celebrated a full return to campus Aug. 25 at a “Welcome to Campus Reception” held at the Campus Center Terrace and Highlander Pub. The event featured food, drinks, games, and short speeches from the hosts – President Joel Bloom, Provost and Senior Executive Vice President Fadi Deek, and Vice President of Human Resources Dale McLeod.
“There isn’t anyone out here who hasn’t been part of NJIT staying open, delivering its excellent education to our students, creating research opportunities, for making sure that we had a 0.001% infection rate on this campus,” said Bloom. “You’ve given back, given back, and given back. For that, I ask you to give yourself a round of applause.”
“We are all back, intact, thank God. Now we can celebrate and re-start our lives, thanks to every one of you,” said Deek. “Better days are ahead for NJIT. I can assure you of this.”
“This event is about appreciation,” said McLeod. “Many of us are still dealing with the impact of the pandemic and I want everyone to be cognizant of the health and wellness of your colleagues.”
Faculty and staff enjoyed one more day with the campus to themselves before students started moving back in between August 27 and August 31.
