NJIT@JerseyCity Adds Two M.S. Degrees for Business Information Systems
Ying Wu College of Computing at its NJIT @JerseyCity location will offer new master's degrees in information systems and business information systems this fall, to meet demand from local technology professionals for graduate-level education.
The new degrees will bring the number of master’s programs offered at NJIT @JerseyCity to five. The location also offers five graduate certificate programs.
Across every industry, data is generated and analyzed in order to create effective, actionable business strategies and guide decision-making. Information management professionals who can create scalable information systems capable of harnessing the power of that data are in high demand, Ying Wu officials noted.
Students in the M.S. in Information Systems program will learn to design user interfaces and understand customer requirements. They will gain exposure to data mining, storage and analytics, and can specialize in high-demand fields such as network security, information assurance and artificial intelligence/machine learning.
The M.S. in Business & Information Systems prepares students for all areas of this interdisciplinary field, whether it’s behind the computer or in front of the boardroom. Students develop expertise in working with user requirements and understanding information architecture, gain exposure to accounting, finance, or human resources, and develop analytical and business acumen.
“With one of the fastest growing technology regions in the country minutes away, NJIT @JerseyCity is making sure that we offer the programs professionals in the tech sector need to remain competitive and productive,” said Craig Gotsman, dean of Ying Wu College of Computing. “The addition of these two master’s programs reflects our commitment to serving as the go-to destination for those wanting access to the best possible education delivered locally by exceptional expert faculty.”
The college opened its NJIT @JerseyCity location in fall 2019. Located at Exchange Place, a quick PATH train commute from Manhattan and Newark, the location was developed to serve the educational needs and interests of working professionals. Opening with one master’s program and two graduate certificates its first semester, NJIT @JerseyCity quickly grew, adding programs to meet student demand and industry staffing needs.
