LGBTQ+ In Tech Speaker Series — NJIT’s Spectrum and SIGCHI
Do you identify as LGBTQ+ or are an ally? Are you interested in working in the tech industry? On Wednesday, March 31 from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., SIGCHI and Spectrum invite Steven Wakabayashi, founder of QTBIPOC Design to speak via Webex about his experience as a UX designer. Wakabayashi will share his experience working in the tech industry as a member of the LGBTQ+ community and as a person of color. He will also talk about how he founded QTBIPOC Design, a group that provides LGBTQ+ designers of color with free and accessible education, mentorship, and networking opportunities. Environmental Life Cycle Design Symposium — Hillier College of Architecture and Design
On March 30 to April 1, NJIT is co-hosting a virtual symposium with the American Center for Life Cycle Assessment (ACLCA), with the specific aim of connecting two parallel systems’ thinking practices: environmental life cycle assessment (LCA) and the multiple practices in the field of design such as urban planning, architecture, interior and industrial design. The aim of the symposium is to explore areas of convergence and further integrate strategies for sustainability from environmental LCA into design decision-making. 2021 Highlander Awards Call for Nominations — Office of Student Life
The Highlanders Awards are a long standing NJIT tradition that recognizes and awards students and student organizations for their leadership and service, as well as awarding select faculty and staff members for their advisement of student organizations and impact on the NJIT community.
Nominations are due by 11:45 p.m. on Sunday, April 4, and can be submitted via the Highlander Hub Form. Just in Time Virtual Fair April 16 — Career Development Services (CDS)
CDS will host NJIT’s Just In Time Virtual Fair April 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Students can register starting March 31 at 9 a.m., review the employer list, and schedule one-on-one and group session times on Handshake. Top employers attending include: Cognizant, CHA Partners, Eaton, Genesis Biotechnology Group, HDR, ZT Systems, US Dept of State. Students are strongly encouraged to register immediately for the best chance to schedule a virtual session time-slot with employers of choice to discuss employment opportunities.
