NJIT Earns Another National Accolade: Best Online MBA in Information Systems

NJIT’s online MBA program continues to earn national accolades. 

After being recognized as one of the Best Online MBA Programs by U.S. News and World Report, NJIT’s online MBA in management information systems has been ranked No. 1 by Master’s Programs Guide.

NJIT’s managment information systems MBA, delivered by its Martin Tuchman School of Management (MTSM), tops dozens of others in the guide’s list of the 30 Best Online MBA in Information Systems. In particular, the guide cites the program’s core of collaboration and professional networking, hands-on learning opportunities and ability to “build substantial problem-solving and decision-making skills.”

The guide also mentions NJIT’s U.S. News ranking and MTSM’s alliance with IBM. 

The MIS MBA is among the most popular at NJIT. The others are concentrated in finance, marketing, healthcare management and innovation and entrepreneurship — with more on the way. All but one concentration is offered both online and in-person to accommodate those who pursue MBAs while working. By design, the innovation and entrepreneurship concentration is in-person only.

Students in the MIS program are generally in the middle of their careers and work across a broad range of sectors, including financial services, banking, insurance and pharmaceuticals, according to Mike Koskinen, director of master's programs at MTSM. They’re drawn by the expertise and accessibility of the faculty, he added.

"Professors are active researchers. So they bring new, updated information especially in technology. Faculty must be on top of tech and it changes every day. We do provide that as an R1 Carnegie institute,” explained Oya Tukel, dean of MTSM. “Also, the student to faculty ratio is around 17 to 1. So, it really gives students an opportunity to be in direct contact with the faculty.”

The Master’s Programs Guide ranking is based on five criteria: earnings potential, selectivity, overall degree affordability, graduation rate and online graduate offerings. You’ll find more detail on the selections here.
