NJ Public Universities Join to Launch Initiative to 'Bring Students Home'
Ten public universities and colleges in New Jersey have joined forces and issued a call for the over 100,000 state residents who attend higher education institutions out-of-state to return home, enroll in New Jersey institutions, and help rebuild the state as part the New Jersey Scholar Corps program.
The participating four-year institutions in the NJ Come Home Program are New Jersey Institute of Technology, Montclair State University, Rowan University, Kean University, New Jersey City University, Ramapo College, Stockton University, The College of New Jersey, Thomas Edison State University and William Paterson University.
“New Jersey needs your energy, your intelligence, and your commitment,” the joint letter reads. “Our public universities and colleges are open and ready to welcome you home, to provide an easy transfer process, and to enable you to finish your degrees and help revitalize your state with your talent and service. More than 33,000 students leave New Jersey every year to study elsewhere, leaving behind opportunities to attend top-ranked institutions at in-state tuition rates.”
As part of the new initiative, the participating higher education institutions guarantee to accept credits earned with a grade of C or better from an accredited out-of-state college or university.
Additionally, the institutions also give students access to financial aid programs offered by the state and the institution of higher education, quick application review and will offer guaranteed housing based on the availability at the time the student commits to attending the institution.
Students will also have access to campus-based New Jersey Scholar Corps volunteer service activities to support our communities in need while observing health and safety guidelines.
