The NJIT women's tennis team immediately bounced back from Friday's loss at St. John's to earn a 4-3 victory over Army West Point Saturday evening at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
The Highlanders (6-3) lost the doubles point but were able to secure the win by taking four of the six singles flights, all in straight sets.
"Everything was against us today. Our players were mentally and physically exhausted from yesterday's game and we lost the doubles point so we were behind from the beginning," head coach Zaki Abdelrahman said post-match. "I was so proud of how the players responded in singles, especially Joleta, who is a true champ, and our freshman Amira, who carried the team on their shoulders today. We are lucky to have these kinds of players in our program."
