NJIT Women's Soccer pushed its current unbeaten streak to four games with a 1-1 draw against the LIU Sharks Friday evening at NYIT's President's Stadium.
The match was the first for NJIT (3-2-2) against the recently rebranded Sharks, who combined their Division I Brooklyn and Division II Post campuses this year.
NJIT found itself down a score early (3') after LIU (1-4-1) cleaned up a rebounded shot and netted only their second goal of the year.
Tara Walenczyk brought the Highlanders even a quarter of the way through the second half (57'), converting on a one-on-one opportunity near the right side of the six-yard box.
Overall, the Highlanders played well despite being down for much of the first half. NJIT outshot LIU 14-8, including a 9-8 advantage in shots on goal.
The NJIT defense held its ground after LIU's goal, only needing goalkeeper Molly Saylor to make one save in the contest.
