Top 3 Things To Do During Your First Week at NJIT
Starting your first year at college can be a whirlwind of emotions. No matter if you’re coming from a different country or if you’re just coming from down the block, college life is bound to be a change in your life.
A full class load, joining clubs and organizations and making new friends can seem like a lot in the first week. But sit back and take a deep breath - NJIT has got your back! Here are some first week events to get you adjusted to your new life at NJIT:
1. Pancakes with the President
When: Tuesday, September 3, 2019 - 8:00 am - 10:00 am
Where: Campus Center West Plaza (Outside near soccer field)
Rain Location: Campus Center Atrium
What better way to start your first day of college classes than with a hearty breakfast? Pancakes with the President is the first event of the fall season. Come out for one of our favorite fall traditions to meet Dr. Bloom and enjoy some tasty pancakes, waffles, coffee and juice!
2. Welcome Back from Student Life
When: Tuesday, September 3, 2019 - 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Where: Campus Center East Plaza (Near the bell tower)
Rain Location: Campus Center Lobby
The NJIT community is so excited to have you with us in Newark! Stop by the Welcome Back for snacks, NJIT swag and giveaways. This gives you your first chance to learn some of great events occurring on campus. It’s also a great way to meet your fellow freshmen!
3. Student Involvement Fair, Hosted by Student Life
When: Wednesday, September 4, 2019 - 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Where: Campus Center East Plaza (Near the bell tower)
Rain Location: Inside the Campus Center
Kick off the semester with some fun! Every semester, the Office of Student Life, along with NJIT’s student organizations, hosts a Student Involvement Fair. Here you’ll find lots of student-run organizations, and at least one is bound to be of interest to you - so come out, have fun and get involved!

Commuter BBQ, Hosted by Student Life

Where: Campus Center West Plaza (Outside near soccer field)
If you’re a commuter, it may seem difficult to feel involved with the campus, but look no further for the perfect way to participate on campus. The Off-Campus and Commuter Association (OCCA) is hosting a BBQ to help commuters get involved with all things Highlander Nation. Enjoy a hot dog, hamburger, veggie burger and more while meeting other commuters and learning more about campus!
Meet the 2019-2020 Student Senate

Where: Campus Center Atrium
