37 College of Architecture and Design Students Exhibit Work at SIGGRAPH 2018
Thirty-seven students from the College of Architecture and Design had their work shown in the double-curated Faculty Submitted Student Work Exhibit at SIGGRAPH 2018, an annual conference on computer graphics and interactive techniques convened by the Association of Computing Machinery, in Vancouver, Aug. 12 -16.
The work — which included animation stills, illustrations, facsimiles, 3D character designs, computational designs, visualization prototypes, among others — was created by interior, industrial and digital design majors from the School of Art + Design, and by two students from the School of Architecture.
The students’ work was created in classes and studios taught by José Alcala, David Brothers, Martina Decker, Julio Figueroa, Glenn Goldman, Taro Narahara, Adam RaiffeJessica Ross, Augustus Wendell, Polina Zaitsevaand Andrzej Zarzycki.
Nada Boules, Erika Duarte, June Enriquez, John Fajardo, Kaishon Way, Kaylin Wittmeyer and Catherine Yong produced foundation year student work from the Color and Composition class.
William Martone and Nicholas Seccondro had their video and animation classwork exhibited.
The History of Games course was represented by work from Jerry Bellone, Loni Fiscus, William Martoneand Alexandra (Sasha) Novichkova.
Everett Aldrich, Danielle Archibold, Jimmy Benites, Sacha Boghossian, Samantha Dimaano, Giovanni Gagliano, Anastasia Mishin, Monica Nelson, Kathleen Nguyendon, Alex Schuppel, Joshua Weinberg and Ian Yunis created the images on display from the digital design studios.
The 3-Dimensional Character Development course was represented by images created by Danielle Archibold and Monica Nelson.
The exhibit also featured Collaborative Design Studio work created by Everett Aldrich, Harinder Dhanesar, Stephanie Jen, Alexa Magliocco, Monica Nelson, Kyle Ralli and Ian Yunis.
NJIT was the only school with exhibited work from interior and industrial design programs. The interior design students who had their work featured include: Fernando Cotto, Sara Ebrahim, Stephanie Jen, Arianna Milla, Pamela Ospina, Isabella Rizzo, Umaamah Tobiasand and Hailey White.
Oliver Budd and Justin Tranchina created the industrial design student work displayed.
This was the seventh consecutive year NJIT had images selected for the student work exhibit at SIGGRAPH. In addition to NJIT, 20 other schools had work accepted and shown, including California State University – Fullerton, Gnomon School of Visual Effects, Kennesaw State University, Middle Tennessee State University, Monmouth University, National Taiwan University of Arts, NYIT, RIT, University of Alaska – Fairbanks, University of Houston, West Virginia University and Yale University.
