Women's Tennis Tops FDU, 5-2, to Remain Perfect at Home

The NJIT women's tennis team recorded a 5-2 victory over visiting FDU Sunday morning inside The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
NJIT, which remains undefeated at home, standing at 2-0 and 2-2 overall, won five out of the six singles matches to earn the 5-2 home victory. FDU took the doubles point and picked up a point at fourth singles.

"The ladies had a good weekend. They competed from start to finish. FDU had some strong players that came to compete. The composure from the NJIT women and confidence in their ability to play the game put them over the top today."
The five Highlander winners in singles action all won in straight sets.
Laura Wipfli combined for a straight set victory at first singles, 6-2, 6-4. Wipfli teamed with Irene Cocero at first doubles and recorded a 6-3 victory.
At the second spot, Paula Menendez Alvarez picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win while Shalom Salvi won by identical scores, 6-3, 6-3 at third singles.
Graduate Arina Babkova registered a 6-0, 6-3 win at fifth singles and sophomore Feyza Aydin posted a 7-5, 6-0 victory at the sixth spot.

NJIT will return to action Saturday, Feb. 8 when the Highlanders visit Hofstra at noon.
