Duncan, Robinson Shine in Victory over Medgar Evers, 107-51
Sebastian Robinson flirted with a triple-double with 12 points, 15 assists and seven rebounds and Quentin Duncan dropped 26 points in his collegiate debut as the NJIT men's basketball team defeated Medgar Evers, 107-51, on Saturday afternoon.
Robinson dished out 15 assists in the victory, setting NJIT's single-game assists record in the Division I era. The 15 assists surpass the previous D1 record which was set by Ky Howard, who had 11 helpers at Villanova back on Dec. 23, 2014.
How it Happened
After the sides traded baskets to open the game, an Ari Fulton dunk at the 14:39 mark sparked a 17-0 run to blow the game open early. Duncan got his first two baskets during the run, including his first of eight 3-pointers coming at the 9:58 mark. The lead remained no smaller than 17 for the remainder of the first half as the Highlanders took a 52-27 advantage into the locker room. A strong second half from NJIT, in which the Highlanders shot 54 percent from the field and connected on nine 3-pointers, helped grow the lead even more.
Duncan shot 9-of-18 from the floor in the first game of his college career. Fulton and Tim Moore Jr., each finished with double-doubles on the day. Fulton tallied a season-best 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Moore finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds. John Kelly and Malachi Arrington each cracked double figures for the first time this season, scoring 10 points apiece.
