NJIT women's volleyball senior Ines Varela set the program record in career blocks as the Highlanders dropped their road match on Sunday at Binghamton, 3-0.
Varela entered the match needing just three total blocks to surpass Courtney Branch's mark of 296 blocks which was set back in 2022. A block from Varela early in set three gave the senior her 297th career block to surpass Branch atop the list.
Varela added four kills on a .250 hitting percentage to her three blocks on the afternoon. Mariana Cova notched her third double-digit kills output in her last five matches, earning 10 kills on the day. Doga Emil and Ema Torres each picked up 11 digs for the match, while Torres added seven kills to her stat line.
