Holloway, Lindinger-Asamoah Earn America East Track and Field Honors
NJIT track and field came away with a pair of America East weekly awards after its first meet of the campaign.
Junior Nia Holloway and freshman Jordan Lindinger-Asamoah were respectively named America East Female Track and Male Field Performer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday morning.
Holloway was a part of two school records during NJIT's season-opening meet at the Wagner Seahawk Shootout on Dec. 8. The Stratford native reset her own mark in the 60 meets, going from a 7.77 this past January to a 7.75 over the weekend. The time puts her fifth on the AE Performance going into 2024. She was also a part of the resetting of the 4x200 Relay record, moving it from 1:44.48 in January to 1:44.02 in December.
Lindinger-Asamoah, a first-year from Vienna, Austria, came out of the gates with a school record in the triple jump (15.12m / 49-7.25) in his collegiate debut, bettering the previous record of 14.60m / 47-11.00 from January. His mark currently sits second in the conference and first among freshmen in the league.
Maine's Cheyenne Figeuroa (Female Field) and Luke Marsanskis (Male Track) were the other AE winners this week.
The two America East awards bring NJIT's all-time Track and Field tally to five and its combined total across Cross Country & Track and Field to eight.
Holloway, Lindinger-Asamoah and the Highlanders will open the 2024 calendar year on Jan. 12 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartan Invite.
