NJIT's President, Business School Dean Make Education Power List
New Jersey Institute of Technology President Teik C. Lim and Oya Tukel, dean of NJIT’s Martin Tuchman School of Management, are featured in NJBIZ’s Education Power 50 for 2023.
The publication recognized Lim, now in his second year as president, for the Newark university’s rise in national standing, particularly in The Wall Street Journal, and for “expanding its role in the fabric of its home city and New Jersey.”
Tukel, who became dean in 2019, was honored for leading a school that trains a new generation of business leaders, including women who seek the same opportunities that she had.
Lim was featured in a top 10 list and Tukel in an alphabetical list of 40.
The annual Education Power 50 celebrates impactful leaders in higher education across New Jersey. As NJBIZ Chief Editor Jeffrey Kanige explained in an introduction to this year’s list, “All have demonstrated their commitment to the critical task of ensuring that New Jerseyans are prepared for the future.”
Below are quotes from the NJBIZ profiles of each NJIT honoree. All of the Power 50 can be found here: https://njbiz.com/presenting-the-2023-njbiz-education-power-50/
Teik C. Lim
“NJIT is an exceptional public polytechnic university that primes students for rewarding careers, particularly in STEM disciplines. We are focused on outcomes and enabling graduates to realize their goals, so they can personally thrive and make significant contributions to society.”
Oya Tukel
“Our priority is, of course, placing our students in the right jobs. Not any job, but the job where their background relates to the requirements. So, the quality of the job matters and the quality of the student background matters. That match is very critical for us.”
