Pride Month

Dear Highlanders,

Today begins Pride Month throughout the United States and across much of the globe. This is a time during which we intentionally reflect on and celebrate the impact and achievements of the LGBTQ+ community, both on campus and around the world. It also is a time to advocate for the elimination of injustices and inequalities that remain today.

NJIT is a university that embraces diversity and considers it a strength of our community. We are one of the most diverse universities in the United States, and that has been a critical factor in our success. Learning happens and progress is made when intelligent, hard-working people from varied backgrounds respectfully share their unique perspectives and ideas in order to solve problems and spur innovation. We, as a university and as a society, benefit tremendously from such diversity, so it is imperative that our campus community be one where all members feel both respected and a sense of belonging. In such an environment, everyone has the opportunity to flourish.
