NJIT Community Members,
Many of us will have the opportunity, today, to gather with family and friends as we mark the Memorial Day holiday and honor those who have died while serving in the U.S. military, and I would like to thank all NJIT’s veterans and current members of the Armed Forces for their courage and service.
NJIT has hundreds of students and thousands of alumni who are veterans, and NJIT has been the home to Air Force ROTC Detachment 490 since 1949. That unit has been training and commissioning new leaders, as 2nd Lieutenants, for the United States Air Force for more than 70 years. NJIT also has an extensive history of contribution to the military through research and technological innovation.
We, at NJIT, believe it is an important component of our mission to support those serving on our behalf in the United States military. So, please join me in thanking those who have served or are actively serving, and remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice through their service.
May you have a peaceful and joyous Memorial Day.
NJIT President Joel S. Bloom
