David Marcano Named to COSIDA Academic All-District Team

Highlander Shortstop Honored for his Work in the Classroom and on the Diamond
David Marcano, a graduate student on the NJIT baseball team was named COSIDA Academic All-District II, it was announced on Thursday.
Marcano, the team's shortstop who has played in and started 41 of 42 games this season, leads the Highlanders (21-21) in batting average (.333), while ranking second in home runs (seven) and RBIs (29). Earlier this season Marcano hit in 20-straight games, the longest hitting streak by a Highlander since 2007.
In the classroom, Marcano boasts a 3.75 GPA in his Master's Program for mechanical engineering. The Katy, TX, native completed his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering last spring when he helped lead NJIT to its first-ever NCAA Regional appearance and he was named Second Team All-America East and to the America East's All-Academic Team.
By being selected to the All-District Team, Marcano automatically advances to the COSIDA Academic All-America ballot.
Marcano and the Highlanders will travel to Baltimore this weekend for a three-game America East Conference series at UMBC.
