No. 67 NJIT Men's Tennis Remains Unbeaten at Home with Win Over Lehigh
The NJIT men's tennis team returned home to the Naimoli Family Tennis Center on Saturday following five-straight road matches and defeated visiting Lehigh 7-0 to remain unbeaten through eight home matches this season.
The Highlanders, who are currently ranked #67 in the ITA computer rankings, improved their overall record to 13-3, while the Mountain Hawks fell to 6-7.
NJIT jumped in front 1-0 as it won two of three doubles matches. The Highlanders top tandem of Pablo Perez Ramos and Wil Jenkins are now 13-1 at first doubles this season after a 6-2 victory and Saturday's third doubles pair of Oscar Callo von Platen and Pavel Petrov won for the seventh time this season, clinching the doubles point with a 6-2 win.
The Highlanders carried the momentum into singles play as they swept their way through all six flights. Nejc Skorjanc and Callo von Platen each won in straight sets, while NJIT's four other players were able to defeat their opponent in a third set.
Perez Ramos continued his impressive season at first singles and is now 13-1 this spring, while Jenkins improved to 11-3 with a win at second singles. Skorjanc, Callo von Platen, and Petrov each won their ninth matches of the season.
The Highlanders next two matches will be on the road against teams from the Big East. NJIT will head to Georgetown on Friday and follow it up with a match at St. John's on Wednesday, April 3.
