NJIT's Sean Lubreski Signs Professional Contract with Tucson Saguaros
Sean Lubreski, who starred for the NJIT baseball program for four seasons, ending in 2019, has signed a professional contract with the Tucson Saguaros.
Lubreski graduated in May 2018 with a bachelors in Communication and Media, Magna Cum Laude received his master's degree in Management on May 21, 2019.
He concludes his four-year Highlander career, starting in 55 career games (ranked third in NJIT D1 era), including five complete games, and registering 18 wins (tied for third in the NJIT D1 era).
"I'm really happy and excited for Sean (Lubreski) to get the chance to play professionally," interim head coach Robbie McClellan commented. "I can't wait for him to start his pro career. He's a great pitcher and competitor who is one of the best pitchers in NJIT history. I am really proud and happy for him."
A two-time ASUN All-Academic honoree, Lubreski posted a 5.17 ERA, starting in 13 games, recording four wins, three complete games and striking out 39 batters in 84 innings pitched.
"I'm very excited for the opportunity to be playing pro ball and to continue my baseball career," Lubreski added. "Thank you to all of my former coaches and teammates who have helped shape me into the player I am today. And to my parents, thank you for the endless support.
A graduate of Blair Academy, Lubreski helped lead Blair Academy to back-to-back Prep State Championships.
He earned first-team All-Mid-Atlantic Prep League and Prep All-State (2013 and 2014) and was recognized to the Academic all-Mid-Atlantic Prep League (2013 and 2014).
The Pecos League, an independent minor league, begins its ninth season with 12 teams.
Tucson, the 2016 Pecos Champions, will be in the Pacific Division, along with Bakersfield Train Robbers, California City Whiptails, High Desert Yardbirds, Monterey Amberjacks and Wasco Reserves.
