NJIT Trustee Dennis Toft Earns Spot in NJBIZ 2024 Law Power List
Dennis Toft, co-vice chair of New Jersey Institute of Technology's Board of Trustees, has been recognized on NJBIZ’s 2024 Law Power List, highlighting Toft's significant contributions to environmental law and his leadership within New Jersey's legal and environmental sectors.
Toft serves as the chair of the environmental law group at Roseland-based CSG Law, where he provides expert counsel on a comprehensive array of environmental issues. His areas of expertise include regulatory counseling, environmental due diligence, permitting, enforcement and litigation, development and redevelopment, and environmental insurance. Throughout his 42-year career, Toft has been instrumental in shaping environmental policy in New Jersey, working closely with state governors and administrations on environmental concerns.
A key architect behind pivotal environmental legislation, Toft played a crucial role in the adoption of the New Jersey Brownfields and Contaminated Site Remediation Act. He was also a driving force in the development and implementation of the New Jersey Site Remediation Reform Act, which established the Licensed Site Remediation Professional program, significantly advancing the state's approach to site remediation.
Toft's legal acumen is complemented by his strong scientific background, holding a physics degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a law degree from Columbia Law School. His unique blend of scientific and legal expertise allows him to navigate complex regulatory processes and provide unparalleled counsel to his clients.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Toft is a dedicated public servant and thought leader. Beyond his membership as a trustee at NJIT, Toft is the environment/energy initiative chair of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce’s executive committee. He is a recognized subject matter expert on environmental issues, regularly sharing his insights and perspectives with members of the media.
